~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~
He was my senior in school and college. He is from a middle class Iyer family and his father was a Math’s professor in S.B. College, Changanacherry. I remember what our class teacher once said about him. It was the mid-term exam of Physics. He usually scores full. This time, even though he did well, the teacher didn't give him full marks for one answer, and hence he missed 100% marks for the subject. Both Raju and the teacher knew that the answer is perfectly correct. So Raju went to the teacher with his answer papers. The teacher was expecting the same too. But to his astonishment, Raju humbly asked him suggestions to answer it better. The teacher was really shocked since he was expecting him to demand his deserved marks.
So read on more about this fascinating personality, who used to be the best in whatever he attempt!
First Rank in State in Secondary School Examination
First Rank in University in Plus Two
Tenth Rank in IIT Joint Entrance Examination
First Rank in All India IIT Computer Science
First Rank in IAS Entrance Examination
First Rank in IAS Training Institute
On passing out from IIT Chennai Mr. Narayanaswamy was offered scholarship by the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. He who came from a middle class family believed that he had a moral obligation to give something in return for the lakhs of rupees the government spent on him as an IIT student. He had the intelligence and conviction to realize that this money came also from the poorest of the poor - who pay up the excise duty on textiles when they buy cloth, who pay up customs, excise and sales tax on diesel when they travel in a bus, and in numerous other ways indirectly pay the government. So he decided to join IAS hoping he could do something for the people of this country. How many young men have the will power to resist such an offer from USA? Narayanaswamy did never look at IAS as a black money spinner as his later life bears testimony to this fact.
After a decade of meritorious service in IAS, today, Narayanaswamy is being forced out of the IAS profession. Do you know why?
A real estate agent wanted to fill up a paddy field which is banned under law. An application came up before Narayanaswamy who was sub collector then, for an exemption from this rule for this plot of land. Upon visiting the site he found that the complaint from 60 poor families that they will face water logging due to the waste water from a nearby Government Medical College if this paddy field was filled up was correct. Narayanswamy came under intense political pressure but he did what was right - refused permission for filling up the paddy field. That was his first confrontation with politicians.
Soon after his marriage his father-in-law closed down a public road to build compound wall for his plot of land. People approached Narayanaswamy with complaint. When talking with his own father-in-law did not help, he removed the obstructing wall with police help. The result, his marriage broke up.
As district Collector he raided the house of a liquor baron who had defaulted Rupees 11 crores payment to government and carried out revenue recovery. A Minister directly telephoned him and ordered to return the forfeited articles to the house of the liquor baron. Narayanswamy politely replied that it is difficult. The minister replied that Narayanaswamy will suffer.
In his district it was a practice to collect crores of rupees for earthen bunds meant for poor farmers,but which were never constructed. A bill for rupees 8 crores came up before Narayanaswamy. He inspected the bund. He found it very weak and said that he will pass the bill after the rainy season to ensure that the bund served the purpose. As expected the earthen bund was too weak to stand the rain and it disappeared in the rain. But he created a lot of enemies for saving 8 crores public money.
The net result of all such unholy activities was that he was asked to go on leave by the government. Later such an illustrious officer was posted as "State Co-Ordinator, Quality Improvement Programme for Schools". This is what the politician will do to an honest officer with backbone - post him in the most powerless position to teach him a lesson. Since he found that nothing can be achieved for the people if he continued with the State Service he opted for central service. But that too was denied on some technical ground. What will you do when you have a brilliant computer career anywhere in the world you choose with the backing of several advanced technical papers too published in international journals to your credit? When you are powerless to do anything for the people, why should you waste your life as the Co-Ordinator for a Schools Programme?
Mr. Narayanaswamy is on the verge of leaving IAS to go to Paris to take up a well paid United Nations assignment (or left?). The politicians can laugh thinking another obstacle has been removed. But it is the helpless people of this country who will lose, not Narayanaswamy. But you have the power to support capable and honest bureaucrats like Narayaswamy, G.R. Khairnar and Alphons Kannamthanam who have suffered a lot under self seeking politicians who rule us. You have even the power to replace such politicians with these kinds of people dedicated to the country. The question is will you do the little you can do NOW? At least a vote or word in support of such personalities? Spread the word, at least let people be aware that there still exists some true Indians!
Cant you see, the country is degenerating!
If you care to see outside, the development (moral, intellectual and socio-economical) in Europe and US far far exceeds anything we can ever imagine to achieve given the current non-chalance and immorality of the corrupt politician/ govt officials. I'm not pointing to anyone particular. But seriously, a big change is required for us to develop and grow to acieve high standards of living. And, for this a revolution needs to happen. We need a strong or dictatorship-like govt for atleast sometime to stike out corruption from grassroots.
You can never compare India with any other country in the world. India has more than thrice the population of US with 1/3rd or less land and other resources. We started late, and it takes time for a multi-racial, multi-lingual and multi-religious country to recover from the stampede of colonialism. Dictatorship was never a solution for anything, but the start of umpteen number of new problems.
Let everyone sweep in front of his own door and the whole world will be clean.
I don't want to compare him with or as God. I rather prefer to believe God lies in every one of us. But I admit that he is really intelligent, hardworking and a true Indian to the core. This is the latest news I could find of him. I am glad that in spite of all unfavorable conditions, he is still serving the country:
Raju Narayanaswamy took charge as Collector of Kollam, Kerala on Mar 01, 2006.
Why did Raju Narayanaswamy join a prestigious Englis Medium School to start with ? He should have gone to a common man's Malayalam medium public school. Also it is a bad example from him to divorce his first wife and marry a lawyer recently. Things are no that bad in Kerala as portrayed in the article.
Instead of trying to portray negative picture of our mother land, we should always try to celebrate our greate culture and strive for the betterment of common man.
Anonymous said...
While a lot of what has been said abt Raju is true, I know him well as a batchmate. he is a nut case who needs pyschological treatment. On the orders of the EC another batchmate of ours was posted as Collector in his place and instead of respectfully accepting the decision he went to High Court and moved a petition against his own batchmate which was thrown out by the judiciary! He allowed the land mafia to construct a road through his father in laws house nly to prove an ego battle.
He touches the feet of DISTRICT LEVEL POLITICAL LEADERS in public so as to get back his Collectorship! WHAT A NATIONAL SHAME! But he is inaccesible to the public.
He is academically brilliant much more than most of us but as a human being he is a piece of crap which is fit only to be in the garbage bin. Sorry the truth is the truth and cant be kept away for long.
The only way to get India fixed is. Kill everyone living there. Then plant new people.
Because the problem is in the mindset of people living there. Everyone is soo selfish, that they just want to pay up and feed corruption and live on their life. And not worry about what that does to the society as a whole.
Dear Friends
Raju Narayanaswamy is not a Looser. It's India a big looser. It's just an expample. lot of professionals left India during the years 1965-1990. India sent out professionals after 1990 to other countries. Westren World always thinks India is a BOTTOM LESS BUCKET. IT IS 100% TRUE.
It's A land of Disgraceful race with a Fake Culture and Double Standards. Example SHILPA SHETTY's Issue.How is different than what you see on daily INDIAN TV and Movie. SUCKKKKKKKKKERS.
Whatever happenned to another IAS officer in Bihar who was killed in broad daylight for not doing the favours to politicians in the Golden Quadrilateral project?? Let me see how many still remember his name. These guys are wasting their lives. I only pray that he gets out of the country and probably does better service to mankind in some deserving country other than India. I am sure he definitely would not have voted for a corrupt politician like Lallu and Rabri. But good people like him pay for it because there are too many bad people in the country. Only smart people get out of the country. I wish atlease now, he acts smart.
think_free said...
If everyone is too selfish to take care of just his business, then the society will never improve. Well, I guess that is mostly the problem with the politicians in India now. Anything they do, the priority is mostly what they or their party benefit from it, than the society in long run!!. Ya it takes some bold and intelligent people to come forward and fight thru all the crap to make at least some difference, than who run away to some other country or just pity and curse India/Indians!
yup, India is tired of uneducated selfish dirty old politicians. All she needs is a new life and loyal and intelligent young blood. Raju has been my juinor in school and college, and his dad my professor in college. He is really unmatched in many ways. In school and collge he was knowledgable than many of the teachers, but was always humble and down-to-earth. I remember one case when teacher didnt give him 100% for some of his answers in exam. Although he got 100% total marks as he had answered all optional questions also, he approached teacher and had discssion on these answers and was able to convince that they were right. Most students wont care to do this as anyway they got 100% total marks. I am proud to have been associated with Raju even though in a small way in those days. We need people like him to take this country to the right path.
I do accept most of the opinions abt RNS.He is a gr8 academic performer and many believe that he done great service to the country.If i can you a questions my friends what commendable service has RNS done for the society in general and the state in particular.If you at some great IAS officers like, Aruna Sundarajan, Alphone Kannathanam,V Venu, and the previous tourism secretary i dont recollect his name but he was from north india and now he is with the central ministry for tourism promotion they have all made their mark and have excelled in their carriers.RNS has not lived upto his potential.If people with not as astonishing academic records as RNS could have achieved so much then RNS should certainly be at the top of the hill.To be a successful in the IAS profession, acedemic brilliance is not the only criteria you need to have very high emotional quotient to be with the massess and think of a long and sustainable development plan.
People like Mr. Narayanaswamy have to fight out, Like it is said, Winning all the battle is not important, but winning the war is more important.
He has set up an example to all of them, that he has the JASBA(Courage) to be different from the other IITians who go for a easy path like joining a IT firm..
But Narayanaswamy has set a strong example that we are the Young Guns who are present to change the future of india.
My best wishes for Mr. Narayanaswamy for his future Battle in his life
I was a hostelmate of this joke personality at Alak in IITM campus
someone has mentioned that he stood first it JEE .. not true.. he was 10th or 11th
No one in his batch liked him .. he was not known to be very selfish, eccentric and also not honest at times.. One incident I remember is cheating in the first semester at IIT in the workshop filing exercise. He was so puny and sickly looking and could not muster the strength to file in the workshop.. so he quietly went to some Adyar workshop and got it done for some cost.. one other guy found about and reported to the foreman and raju jackass did get punished.
He never applied to do higher studies.. all the rubbish about offer from US univs is baloney. also he cheated in the last semester in CS branch project and was punished by the professor and failed the project. So he spent another semester completing this B.Tech project in the fall of 1989.
Ajay Kripa Shrikant was the topper in the IIT class of 89. He belonged to CS batch too.
CORRECTION to my earlier post
should read as
he was VERY WELL known to be very selfish, eccentric and also not honest at times.
I was Raju and Soundar's classmate too in IIT. Soundar's points are truthful. There are many other incidents - like his dad coming down before exams and making notes for him in the IIT library.
Like Soundar's data points out, some of the eulogizing of Raju as a student is clearly embellishment. However, let's not miss the bigger point. Regardless he was a brilliant student (very bookish - but that is what IIT and India rewards).
I suspect there is some embellishments around what he actually did as an IAS officer also. However, the important point is, even if half of that is true, he has done a phenomenal job. When is the last time you read about the good jobs of an IAS officer?
True, I cannot visualize that same semi-recluse bookworm being an action oriented honest IAS office taking on the establishment. But I have to give some credit to all the stories that I hear.
We usually spread negative news much faster than positive news. We have heard quite a few people say positive things about him.
For that alone, he deserves a lot of respect. (you will probably still not catch me having coffee or drinks with him though :-) )
RB said...
I was his junior at IITM, Raju (RNS) was not too interested in the CS courses, and ended up taking quite a few Electrical Engg (ECE) courses with us. Difficult theoretical (mathematical) subjects too, like Communications and Control, where the exams were difficult. He was simply brilliant, and used to walk away with the only perfect grade (S) that the stingy profs used to hand out!!!
Still we felt no rancour towards him, only respect. He was very soft-spoken, and kept to himself. Hardly talked in class. But in case anyone approached him with a doubt, he was quite helpful. I wish I had taken the opportunity to interact more with him.
All the stories about his being selfish are false. In general, IIT Madras was a den of vipers in those days (don't know how it is nowadays); and it was COOL to put down studious folks as muggos. The reality was that the "so-called cool dudes" were working their backside off in secret, while externally projecting an air of effortlessness. No wonder a simple and straight-forward person like RNS (possibly) couldn't get along with his branchmates.
"His father visited him at IIT and made notes for him." Wow, is this the worst his detractors have to say about him? Come on, gimme a break.
RNS has inspired countless engineers (esp. from South India) to take up Civil Services. I heard this personally from one IFS officer.
He is a gifted writer too. In these days when it is fashionable to not speak any Indian languages (including one's own mother tongue), he has won the Sahitya Academy award for Malayalam literature. What a truly multi-faceted personality.
think_free said...
good to see many positive and negative views abt him. I guess the readers are wise enough to find out what is true and false. RB, thanks for the sincere comments, I too believe he is a great personality and a nice IAS officer. Time will prove the rest. Every one who succeed will have to face lot of allegations :)
Unknown said...
I heard stories about RNS's IIT days from some ex IIT Madras guys and gals in Toronto. What I heard is all positive and his actions as an IAS officer in Kerala speaks for itself. I think it would have been better if he joined MIT and did some real work in CS to help the mankind rather than working as an IAS officer in Kerala Cadre where the state politics will not let anyone to any thing. Things would have been different if he is in Gujarath or Tamil Nadu cadre.
I still remember the speech he gave on the occassion of felicitation ceremony conducted in our college to congratulate him on his success as IAS topper. He is a down to earth GENIUS. I always felt if he would have been in the scientific world he could have invented something. Because he was so brilliant in Maths & Physics, his favourite subjects. I feel he should be a role model to the new generation & if some of them follow his footsteps, it will be a great movement in our country. I think down the line some generation may fed of these corrupted people & start acting against them, a kind of movement like "For the People". Thats what our country need now.
Well, whatever is Mr Swamis personal and past-life flaws (i dont mean to say there are any as this blog is my only source) , as a citizen and lay observer, it appears that he beleives in certain values and stands by them. And many of his actions are strong messages to the public and politicians that you can do many things through the proper channel and do good being in the system. Thats what makes him survive inspite of the troubles he must have faced. When people readily accept the eccentricities of medoiocre politicians, film stars, channel divas etc , we shouldnt be complaining abt a do-gooder officers eccentricities - after all his excellent academics itself proves that he is a cut above. Well done sir.
By the looks of it I may meet him in these 4 days when Iam also going to be in TVM(meeting other higher-ups in the system as the part of the same pursuit), somehow the winds tell me that. Mr. Raju Narayanaswamy IAS
The foremost - I pay u a very Humble and Honest Salute, sir.
I feel happy to see a lots of my brothers sisters, express their views over the article placed over here.
From the few I had read, I got some idea about how the citizen of this Multi-diverse nation thinks about the system.
Just as some of the blogers have commented, BLAMING THE SYSTEM FOR ITS INEFFICIENCY is not the way for its improvement.
After all we can't change the current foul practices carried out in our Nation in a day.
I takes time and need a very huge co-operation.
Politics in itself is no bad, but the people who run it with a tag as of the betterment of the society are the real culprits and they are the ones who have to be taught a lesson.
Simply, complaining about the other person doesn't finish it all. Just as some anonymous blogger commented : First sweep one's own doorsteps, The world will be clean in its own.
Develop oneself the inspirational qualities and spread the message far and wide.
The motive should be very clean, honest, peaceful and must end on a good note.
There lots of great gentlemen in the Indian Constitution Framing and Policy-Making. But still many lay hopeless in front of the wicked state of the system.
This is the reason why most of the Youths prefer a non-administrative post and settle anywhere else other than India.
I don't feel regret as still millions of us are calm though knowing the fact and though having the right knowledge to cope with all this.
But a proper leadership is lacking. IS IT SO?
I pay my heartfelt felicitations for all the GREAT PERSONALITIES who sacrificed their precious lifetime for the betterment of the society and its common people.
I am too a very common man, addressing to my dear nationwide fellow-mates for standing united and fight as one, at least for a better plight of the Indian society in the future.
PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN
Raju Naryanasamy and many others like TN Seshan, Aruna Roy, and Anna Hazard etc. have been fighting against corruption, inefficiency, criminal-political nexus etc. But after producing a short lived hype they disappear in the oblivion without making any long lasting effect on the system and society. Few of them are victimized, haunted and persecuted by the powers.
Failure to make a long lasting dent was because all of them, like many other reform activists in each and every corner of our country, had/have been fighting against the symptom not the causes. And mostly it directly harm interested of some persons, groups or political parties. So they create animosity and attract revenge.
But the cause of the degradation of our society is not exposed or addressed and those cause continue to produce and aggravate the symptoms (corruption, communalism, nepotism… etc) irrespective of such efforts. Such efforts also camouflage the causes by wrongly blowing up the symptoms to the status of causes.
We, at the ‘Great India Trust’, are working to expose and rectify those causes.
we identify thee ‘Character-crisis’ as the most important basic symptom. And a ‘Pseudo-democracy’ practiced through nominations and manipulations in the name of consensus and by negating ‘inner-party democracy’, the vital force of democracy as the most important cause.
There are two more basic causes: a perverted election system and a flawed government formation. but all those can not be attempted and achieved in the absence of a competent and virtuous political leadership.
i don' know why am i reminded of "nayak"... a super bollywood movie. It was starring anil kapoor, in a role of a character almost similar to what Raju Narayanasamy is in his real life.
..
but sadly even that movie [though winning a critics award], din' do well in theaters.
.
i won'comment any-thing., but yeh.,one thing is for sure, that "LOVE n RESPECT" is above all., n MR Raju Narayan has earned that.
I don't see Raju's name in the IIT M institute awardees-, which makes you wonder how much of the other stories are embellished.
It appears that Raju did not top the CS department nor did he get any awards from IIT Madras (see IIT M link below).
It makes you wonder about the credibility of all other things written about him.
I studied in Raju's school (many years junior) and his father was a Math's professor in my college too. I know for sure that he was a state rank holder in 10th (SSLC, Kerala Syllabus) and also was the IAS topper (should be 93 or 94), because we gave him a honorary meeting.
For rest of the info, I don't have any proof, only things I heard from others or read from newspaper, magazines etc. Internet was not so popular during that time frame and it is very difficult to get info abt those days.
Oh and btw, I didn't delete any of your comments, I guess you are referring to the one you posted on 17 Apr? If so, it is there 1 comment above your last one. Don't make unnecessary allegations bro ;)
There may be hurdles in all the good things we do....but i think if all the good people start putting their efforts then world would definitely be a better place.
I personally think one could serve the country better by being a politician than being an IAS.(Both freedom and areas of exercise wise)But still i dont know why all the capable people run away from this fact?
I'm baffled and confused. At times you need role models to look upto, to emulate, to follow. Mr. Swami definitely fits the criteria of being the same, and at the same time you hear allegations about his false achievements. Current scams or media scam specifically makes it unpredictable to determine the truth behind a published story. It is impossible to judge whether the story has it's roots in the corrupt system itself, or has originated from radical thinkers trying to improve the system. The opposition plays with public sentiments to downturn the ruling party and so does the ruling party when it takes the former role. Are the people responsible for the betterment of "common man", even giving it the remotest thought, i seriously doubt it. The country is a huge mess and you cannot solve a mess unless you get your hands dirty too. Like it is said for science "The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them." Similarly i believe that the persisting problems of our society cannot be solved within the present system, we need to be radical but at the same time have to keep in mind that no change can be brought overnight. The thought process of public has to change. Virtues like compassion, empathy, morality have gone missing. When was the last time you were moved to see a beggar in tattered clothes on the red light? Our thoughts have become immune and lost the human touch.
Well this is an endless topic and i can write forever, but the point is who wants to get out of his/her comfortable zone. You've got to do this to aptly say something about it. Even a rickshaw-puller has views about anything and everything, and so does everyone on this blog. Excuse me for saying so, but even a tiniest part of standing up to your morals will solve the purpose.
Be the change you want to see, is all i say to conclude.
Raju is a brilliant boy, but as an IAS officer he was a bit of misfit. You have to have the dexterity of balancing rough with the smooth in IAS, uphold principles but at the same time fathom a common ground so that politicians can comply and see reason. It is not a game of open confrontation but of skillful ability to tackle there corrupt politicians of India.
Raju is a fantastic gentleman. A savant in maths and physics, but academically bright people often seldom find themselves throttled in working with corrupt dubious politicians. They are not so called tactful in buttering the back side of politicians and in doing social good often end up as bureaucratic pariahs. Hats off to the boy for his integrity and high standards of morality. A social role model but an unhappy man on personal and professional front. God bless him
Dear right thinking friends,
What a wonderful person? God is there, it depends on the goodness by birth, by each act and then one's hard work, that makes her/him so great. I am told he is the 2nd IAS first rank holder of South India, first being Shri T.N. Sheshan, Ex-Chief Election Commissioner. I am not sure if this is true.
Also, where is Shri Raju Narayanaswami now? I am told after his problem with one Minister in the last Communist Govt in Kerala, while he was serving Collector of Kannur, he was asked to write off some big amount of money that should have gone to the state exchequer to be paid by a contractor, which he did not agree for and then he quit from the total discomfort as he faced in many of his earlier cases where he stood to do the right thing, lawful thing. When he got his IAS in flying colours, the Paris job offer he got, he at last decided and had taken up after all the bitter experience he had in his mother country, India, and homeland Kerala. Any idea, where is and what as he is working in France?
What a shame for such a loss! Pls read the Great (late) Malayattoor Ramakrishnan's "Yanthram" novel to learn of our corrupt red tape. He too threw out his IAS when he was in his early 50's to take abode in his favourite writing programme.
Currently, he is Secretary, Youth Affairs Department, Government of Kerala. The wikipedia and NIC link in the post hopefully has latest details :-)
I happened to read comments about this wonderful person just now.everyone has a right to opine, but no one has the right to assume and opine especially in a bad light about another person.i was married to this selfish mean and cunning person till 2002.I kept quiet all these years because i was busy picking up the shreds of my life which he had torn to pieces and make something of it.i was still doing my MBBS when he stood on one leg to get married to me.He was driven to my home by his father;he was sitting in the front seat sandwiched between his parents; and he was not interested in talking to me.He very sweetly offered his help in official capacity to my father if needed.my father thanked him and politely refused.I was not particularly interested in this marriage for obvious reasons;i wanted a loving and caring husband period.But then his parents came and literally fell at my parents feet and the inevitable happened.after that he ignored me so much i often used to wonder why he ever married me.It became clear that he was using me, he wanted to marry a kottayam girl in kottayam when he was the sub collector there;just to get coverage there, and he chose the day too;when all the top politicians would be there in town so they could come for this too.On that day the then chief minister jokingly warned me about this man and it came out to be so true...
Within a few days after marriage, he demolished my father's property wall which had been previously reconstructed lawfully under police supervision following its unlawful demolition by local goons.let me ask you all; how many of you would allow a pathway through your property just because some lazy bums want to just cut across through it from one road to another rather than walking around it in the normal round about way??that property is there in the family for the last 2 generations and my father has not taken anybody's forget the government's.we have sufficient proof including the survey dated 60years back.This moron supposedly took the drastic step based upon a mass petition and his enquiry report on it.
Anonymous said...
I had to attend college face everyone's questions and not to mention the hellish life with inlaws...i was not allowed to talk to my parents or go to my home.
after this episode i encouraged my broken father to go to court.My father was not down because the wall was demolished but because the new son in law did that cunningly and 'unlawfully' behind our back just to get publicity.
The 'martyr'got transferred in the mean time;and my father had to get copies of documents from the subregistrar's office for the court case.he was shocked to see that the date on the order for enquiry report on the mass petition and the report were well after the incident;months after he got transferred from the place!!!he had forged this document;done it at atime when he had no authority to do so ie unlawfully!!.
My father lodged a criminal case too upon my insistence.I was with my father not because he brought me up but because he deserved justice and needed my support.
Anyways the cunning fellow sent his parents for a compromise to save his face and his job.As per the elders' advice i too agreed;no one in the right frame of mind get married just to divorce.I wanted to give it a try for what it was worth.But after the cases were withdrawn he never came home.I was with his parents hoping for him to come.One fine day he gave interview saying that he had divorced me and my father broke the marriage when i was still legally married to him.
That was enough for me and i finally went for a divorce.Lot of people tried for a compromise including the family court judge;but he was not willing.
I pulled myself together did my post graduation and fellowship.I had wasted precious years of my life hoping that this poor example of a man would improve..
I only know how difficult that period of my life was, i had to face the gossip, i had no strength to open up against people like you who support this cunning fellow blindly.I came out of it by God's grace.and I was practising my profession till my childbirth after my second marriage to a very loving and caring person.God is there so I got a loving husband to compensate for all i went through.
let me ask you how long can anyone live in the past??1st rank 10th and pre degree and IAS agreed but 1st rank iit entrance and final.. bullshit. his parents by their own proud admission to me used to go and stay with him in iit to help with studies.he has attended school only to write exams. and he cheated in the practicals.his parents used to help with files and his ' literary works' when i was there.and by the way what has academic brilliance got to do with character?? let me answer that.. nothing at all.and that man is a big big zero in character.
are nt there any other honest officers other than him?? why nothing comes out about them??
He is arrogant to aal except politicians (he licks their feet,i was witness) and so called journalists who publish what he pukes.
i have often asked my father why he keeps quiet to all these lies and his reply was he would not reply to the barks of stray dog he had better things to do.But now the barking has strated to be bothersome hence this post.if it does not quieten i will go legally with proof to make sure the mouth stays closed.
In 2006 this moron gave an interview and his mother had approached my parents for a reunion saying that he was willing to 'talk' to me and he would commit suicide without me. my mother replied that if a reunion happens then her daughter(i) would commit suicide:)..
and for the record my father is not that moron's father in law.so to all the people out there if something sounds too good to be true it might not be true after all.if any of you has doubt and need proof for this i am ready to oblige.
Anonymous said...
And finally for the record Mr Swami is a mean selfish cunning person with no moral scruples whatsoever in using people as stepping stones and discard them with no compunction once their purpose is served.He has to face God for his sins and various misdeeds, he is doing it so he has not come up in life and never will because he can never be happy or contended without God's grace.He lives in his past ;i feel pity for his present and future if he still has any.And lastly i am not lashing baseless accusations at him i have actually lived in hell and i have proof for that to produce before all who want it.i wont be keeping quiet till i try my best to bring the actual story before everyone;no one cal pull the wool over everybody's eyes all the time.there is an end to bad things too..
Anonymous said...
so dear fellow bloggers Mr Swami is no different than the so called politicians whom he make out to be his tormentors and the cinematic style
villains.in fact he is even worse because he uses even them for publicity while licking their feet in private and sometimes public foe covetable posts..
There is something which is not linking with the post of his so called ex-wife.If there was a illegal demolition of ur property y didnt you approach the court.After all the the judiciary is supreme in the country.
2-I think that ur father is to blame for the whole muddle. It could have been settled in the manner in which both of you could have gained from the experience. If you have to give the land up in the interest of the public . RNS popularity could have risen and ur fathers philanthropy could have come to limelight. Most of the issues with marriage nowadays is because of greed and money. If we all go to the universal truth that nothing belongs to us we just renting it out for a short period of time.
Anonymous said...
please read carefully.we approached court got the judgment in our favour and the wall is now restored.
i do not want to be used for his popularity.i dont care to be used in such a way. i beleive marriage should be based on mutual trust respect and most importantly love above all without ego.
and talking about greed and money, his parents demanded maruti car and money as dowry, which were not acceptable to me.when i refused, they agreed for a grand ceremony.may be this also could have been the provocation.and i repeat my father is not to be blamed for anything.i am reasonably intelligent enough to have a profession through merit and i therefore am smart enough to look after my interests and life.if i had felt that my father is not right and is at the wrong side of justice,i would never have supported him come what may.his only mistake was to get me married to an egoistic selfish mean cunning liar who uses people.
as i made it clear in my post it was not the issue of property and he was willing to let it go.but there is question of right and wrong.in everyone's eyes, as people like you say even after reading this, he would be at fault.i did not want that.mr swami is a criminal and will remain so forever in my eyes.
one more fact is he writes about himself and gives to all newspapers to publish using others' name in a bad light to increase his popularity.so it goes like the monkeys' story.without knowing the truth all others start to blame one person as they are conditioned by the lies of this moron.
and mr mathew if you care i am willing to publish the proof too
Anonymous said...
also mr mathew, if this had happened to your property/ house how philanthropical would you be??be honest to yourself.
and just because mr swami lies to 1000 people at a time and they are foolish enough to beleive him, his lies remain lies;they can never be the truth.he is cheating himself and others.but he cannot cheat God.speaking about spirituality, why cant he devote his life to service of the humankind and be a true diplomat and human being without crazing after power and popularity??why cant he unburden himself of his mammoth ego?being a diplomat he should know how to tackle the politicians.that is what he is paid for after all.why is he cribbing then?infact he is using them also for his popularity and in private and sometimes in public he falls at their feet for coveted posts..
we are just humans and it will be better to all if we all keep ourselves to own limits fully knowing our limits;giving others space and respect.till we learn that properly all will get lessons from the Supreme about life and how to live .life is God's gift after all...
RNS may have committed mistakes in family life as he might have deeply got involved in his profession forgetting family. And it may take time to heal Mrs Radhika's deep wounds. It would be better for her to forgive and forget rather than reopening the wounds as her present life with Mr.Narender and her child is the most important one now. Mrs Radhika,you can look at
Gladys Satines who forgave the people who killed her husband and her two children by setting them to fire, whenever you get a feeling of rage, because of the past, and overcome such feelings.
Your present life and future is more important.
I just read most of these posts after a fellow IITM classmate alerted me. I knew Raju as a classmate at IITM but have not been in touch with him since then.
I cant speak to what happened in his personal life ..but is that really important? Millions of people all over the world have failed relationships but that does not make them look good or bad.
His contribution to the Indian Society is all I care. To me, Raju was a truly genuine character and has done a fabulous job as an Administrative Officer. I wish him the very best in whatever he does.
Why can't Prime Minister or President or any politicians such as union Rural Minister Mr. Jairam Ramesh or someone who wants development in India can absorb Mr. Narayana swamy to the post in Rajyasabha or Loksabha... Or atleast can make him as advisor or some better post in central government. Due to these money grabbers, he had to leave the country.. and go for UN Job.... All the students should do something like to bring him back.
i would thank, Mrs Radhika madam, for writing her views about him in this blog.It is not that, she should keep quiet; she has got every right to speak, even now or even another 10 years from now.Being his ex-wife,her words have got profound importance, rather than what you get from media and newspapers.
And for Deepak, if you do one mistake, you accept it, you have done it and you are obliged to take whatever punishment for that.
That shows the strength of your character and not weeping for forgiveness.
I feel it would not do much good for her and for her family life now, if she keeps airing the same for another 10 years. She will be reopening her wounds.
What I wrote in Aug.14, 2012 is just to help her forget the past and a good future life.
This is just my view point please, since you've mentioned my name. Warm Regards. Deepak.
Now his race is a minority in administration, but with the addition of Ms. Harita, Sriram, AlbiJohn ... we can expect a positive change
Hi deepakI, as I have already mentioned earlier, my main aim in writing this was to clear my parents name as it is my duty to do so and not give vent to my anger. I have come past that stage long since and I don't feel anything towards that person. But I do feel pity to all those people who see him as next thing to God. And that is not because he neglected me but because he is corrupt and committed forgery to save his skin and his job. But as I said my aim was to clear my fathers name. I don't really care about the rest as it is personal as to whom one should idolise. If someone wants to keep an opportunist unethical person on a high pedestal it is upto that person. Thanks for your concern anyways. I mean that and appreciate it.
His greatest contribution is not what the few encounters he had with the political bosses or with the looters of the Nation. Unmindful of results and personal embarassment, he always spersisted in doing what he considered was right. He felt a tryst with society which cannot be broken at any cost. When Bharata and his retinue ofofficials begged of Sri Rama to end his exile and take over the royal duties of Ayodhya kingdom, Sri Rama refused saying "LAKSHMI CHANDRAT APEYAD VA - HIMAVAN VA HIMAM TYAJET, ATEEYAD SAGARO VELAAM - NA PRATIGNAAM AHAM PITHUH", meaning 'Perhaps, even the glory of the Moon may disappear,the Himalayas jettison its entire snow, the ocean rid itself of the waves but, I will not swerve from my assurance given to my father. Narayanaswamy is too big to be judged on our make-believe standards, HE WINS DECISIVELY AS AN UPRIGHT HUMAN BEING, and that is saying a lot.
Like others I have had great admiration for RNS.He was source of Inspiration for all during that time when he got rank in pre-degree and got selected in IIT.Still remenber the interview he had given to some TV channel.The questiner asked him whether his hifting to civil service is loss for scentifc community.To which he replied that his scientific background will help him more to devise govt policies. Also I have heard about his talent from a close family friend of him in the nineties with whom I stayed for sometime. Afterwards I left the country but was always curious to know his whereabouts.His divorce was indeed a shock to me which was understood by me as that he upheld public interest against family interests. My admiration increased. But around 3-4 years back, I heard something very bad about him,that he is a total failure in his profession and behaves very rudely with fellow employees and used to insult them in front of others and that colleagues have got a very bad impression about him (source is an ex-colleague). Also there not much notable achievements as a civil servant considering his accomplishments in studies. Now I see the writings of his ex- wife, the one who shared life with him and knows better than all, who is a medical professional, I don't think that she is benefitted in any way by tarnishing his image after leaving from his life.As mentioned she is leading a happy life also. So I make up my conclusion that academic laurels are not the yardstick to measure character! So the karma cycle is playing here
Went through many of the comments.
Presently a senior citizen, without any pension or not earning a single paise by exchanging work for money. No complaints to anyone on anything.
Coming from a similar background as RNS, going up the hard way with the blessings and Grace of Almighty, I see life as an experience, an opportunity to give ones best to humanity.
Nothing surpasses the Joy of having delivered. Very few understand this.
I took my M.tech from IIT Madras in 1980. Joined Govt service as Assistant Director, later worked with PSU, then software giants.
My life journey took me through various stations. Saw many things in life.
Indulging in goodness is simple,stra straight and easy, but compromising with evil is a delicate proposition.
We have learned about Entropy in thermodynamics. This tendency towards disorder is inherent in all creations.
When we have decided to play GOD, we have to get tuned towards the attributes of the all pervading TRUTH.
The TRUTH will consistent put us to killer stress tests which we have to regularly endure.
With a serene Mind and the blessings of the Supreme, souls like RNS will glow for ever.
Always used to ponder of an utopian world, where everybody strives for the benefit of everyone, surpassing all little, transient and illusory sensory subjucations.
We ourselves being subjects of illusion, cannot expect purity and sanity in the game of transience.
Why don't we all TRY to build a consortium, a consortium which will be like gravity, which will slowly but surely succeed in bringing together all elements of proactivity, leveraging on available technology and information penetrability, utilising the knowledge base of prime-past citizens.
I am ready and willing. Willing to be the nucleus. We want leaders, followers, supporters, motivators,applauders and a whole lot.
All are invited.
May be India is not the place for super bright people. Only 5 percent of Indians may be like Raju. The remaining may be useless mediocres with no contribution. Is IAS the place for super bright people ? There are much better options. IAS may be good for average people with political skills.
